Historic Preservation
The Planning Department provides the following information and services related to historic preservation activities in the county:
- Incorporates historic preservation as a key priority in the Planning Board Report and Capital Planning process.
- Provides guidance to municipalities on development impacts on historic resources.
- Develops appropriate treatment of significant buildings and sites.
- Monitors design and construction of Capital projects to assure protection of historic character to greatest degree possible.
- Facilitates New York State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) Review of projects.
- Provides support to the County’s Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC)
